Art is a soulful expression of an artist. It’s an artist who blends life and colors into a plain canvas. Every piece of art has a path of perspectives to travel through. Some engage us in conflicting yet imaginative thoughts and some inspire us.
Nina Hidalgo is a Filipino artist based in the Philippines, where the diverse culture and traditions of the land influence the art. Nina Hidalgo specialized in miniature painting. This is a traditional form of art rich in history and cultural elements with intricate details as a highlight. She follows other art trends like portraitures and landscapes. She is constantly trying to capture the message of ‘Even small matters’ through her artwork.
An artist becomes successful when he or she can create absorbing and adroit art. This comes with consistency, hard work, creativity and devotion in their work. Nina hidalgo holds true to this. She believes that she grew as an artist by continuous practice and through numerous watercolor groups that she joined which in turn built her confidence furthermore.
For every artist, there is a moment where they feel proud and ecstatic about their work. Fortunately for Nina Hidalgo what touches her and gives her pride regarding her work is when her daughter comes up to her after she completes an artwork, just to tell her how beautiful it is and how much she adores it.
A global pandemic like this reminds us of our responsibilities of humanity, to give in abundance within the limits of our capabilities, to the ones in need. She has made sure to have some positive impact on the world. She has initiated an ARTvocacy that aims to donate art materials to the less fortunate who want to pursue arts. This asserts her nature of being aware and concerned about the necessities of creative minds.
Art paves the way to self-discovery. This truly reflects Nina’s message to other artists that is to find themselves through art. She believes that it is a medium for one to bloom into whatever they want to become. In her view, the importance of art for a student wholly depends on their imagination. Children are curious and their limit to curiosity is their imagination and their imagination can be portrayed most colorfully and joyfully furnishing masterpieces. This thought personally honed her individuality. People whom she idolizes includes, Anina Rubio and Nelson Castillo.
She finds inspiration in the randomness of life around her, whether it’s people, events or the breathtaking beauty of nature. This gives her a view of a wider spectrum of art and life.
We at ARTOZE encourage and highly appreciate such actions where artists come forward to stand along with the other fellow community members to share their experiences, views and knowledge through "Inspire and Empower", a series By the Artists, For the Artists in association with ARTOZE Gallery and Exhibitions.
